TWKBMCR members are encouraged to donate $32.00 to the John G. Corry Scholarship Fund. 32 years ago, in recognition of Rev. Dr. John G. Corry, who became the first African American appointed as district superintendent in the merged Tennessee Conference Central Jurisdiction and the Tennessee Conference Southeastern Jurisdiction, and later appointed the first African American Council on Ministries Director in the Tennessee Conference and Southeastern Jurisdiction and later the first black appointed to the Judicial Council of the UMC.
BMCR established the John G. Corry Scholarship Award. As of 2023, the John G. Corry Scholarship Award is to provide moral, spiritual, and financial support for United Methodist students in the TWK conference continuing their educational pursuits beyond the secondary school level. Bring your contributions to the BMCR dinner at annual conference or pay online.
